»ZELENO, KI TE LJUBIM ZELENO«
Triptih iz cikla
Triptih je nastal leta 2022 in ga je naslikal Drago Vidmar. Tehnika slike so tempere. Velika je xx. Slogovno sodi v realizem.
Zelena je barva ravnotežja in harmonije. Obnavlja in povrne energijo.

Živim nad gradom in imam tak pogled vsak dan, zato so mi motivi narave blizu.

“GREEN, HOW I WANT YOU GREEN”
Triptych from the cycle
The triptych has arisen in the year 2022 and was painted by Drago Vidmar. The technique is temperatures. The style belongs to realism.
The name of the cycle is “Green, How I Want You Green,” which is a known verse of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. It contains 7 paintings and it is exhibited in the hall at Kostel Castle. Some of the paintings depict the Kolpa river, while others depict the forest. The colour green is predominant in the pictures because it relates to nature. Green is also the colour of balance and harmony; it restores and returns energy. It is a shelter from the daily stresses of modern life and gives us back a sense of well-being.
The selected picture, which is a triptych, has no title. It is a work of art—usually a panel painting—divided into three parts or made on three panels which are hinged together so that they can be folded. This painting, however, is not joined together; all three parts actually hang on the wall, and between them, there is a 3-centimetre-wide gap. The triptych depicts the hill behind Kostel Castle, which is in the background; in the foreground, there are branches of trees. The picture is dominated by the green colour. The grey castle is portrayed in the central panel. It is small and not painted in detail. The whole triptych gives the impression of looking out a window. The image is very realistic. The depicted theme is called landscape.

Drago Vidmar, the painter and creator of the triptych, was born in Ljubljana in 1940. From the age of eight onwards, he spent his childhood in the town by the river Rinža, since his parents moved to Kočevje in 1948. He received education as a decorator and also worked as a painter and colourist at a printing press. Today, he lives in Stuttgart, Germany, but he still likes to return to Kočevje as his wife is also from there. He has recently painted a series of paintings entitled “Green, How I Want You Green”, which was exhibited for the first time on 29 August 2022 at Kostel Castle, revealing the natural beauties of the Kolpa Valley.
Drago Vidmar’s paintings are characterized by portraits or landscapes, so this painting does not stand out from his oeuvre. As already mentioned, the painting was exhibited at Kostel Castle, which is of great importance for the local environment as it attracts both locals and tourists with a variety of activities at the castle. He has had many exhibitions in the local area and is quite recognisable.
I love all the pictures because I am also from Kostel. But the one I particularly like is the picture of the castle and the surrounding nature, which is shown across three canvases. It surprised me, as I had never seen it before. I live above the castle and have this view every day, so the motifs of nature are close to me. Due to these motifs, the painting seems soothing as the predominant colour is green, while the castle is grey. Because of the contrast between the colours, in my opinion, the painting is quickly noticed by the visitors, and it caught my eye as well.
