ABSTRAKTNA SLIKA MARKA BUTINE

Mere slike so 95 x 96 cm.

Vsak pas posebej predstavlja sloj čustev in obdobje v umetnikovem življenju. Drugi svetlo modri pas predstavlja gladino morja in vedrost v avtorjevem življenju. Tri temne barve (modra, zelena, črna) predstavljajo globino, do katere seže morsko dno in morebitne prepreke, na katere naleti vsak posameznik.

The painting Seabed is abstract and its composition is vertical. The picture shows bands of different colors. Each individual stripe represents a layer of emotion and a period in the artist´s life. The first three bands (brown-red) represent the coast of the city, which is dark and cold. The second light blue band represents the surface of the sea and the serenity in the artist´s life. The three dark colours (blue, green and black) represent the depth to which the seabed reaches and the possible obstacles that each individual encounters. The yellowish colours represent the light at the end of the tunnel, which can be reached with a lot of effort and will. The last blue-green bands represent freedom, symbolising a man´s death. The iconographic theme is secular. The message is that life is as emotionally colourful as the colour palette.

In my opinion, the artwork is very interesting and special because it is different. At first glance, it arouses my interest and makes me think about it, because abstract paintings allow the observer to do just that. If I were in the painter’s shoes, I might have chosen other, more cheerful colours. I wouldn’t want to have the painting on my wall because of the dark colours, but I still like it as a piece of art and appreciate it.
